Review: Kono Yo No Hate De Koi or Utau Shoujo Yu-No The Eroge Visual Novel That Inspired Steins;Gate
kono yo no hate de koi or utau shoujo yu-no It is undoubtedly one of the visual novels Eroge that has marked a before and after in the world of timelines and parallel universes. Today we see that many series, movies and games talk about timelines and parallel worlds or how the universe really moves, but it is not something really new in the video game industry, since yu-no It is undoubtedly one of the titles that has left impressive legacies in the theme.
Developed by Elf and released in 1996, Kono Yo No Hate de Koi or Utau Shoujo Yu-no told us one of the most impressive stories and that many of us got into our heads that we are not alone in the universe or more well that our universe or timeline are not unique. The premise put us in Takuya Arima’s shoes a high school student and son of a famous archaeologist who has recently disappeared and now lives alone with his stepmother, since his biological mother died mysteriously shortly after he was born.
During a summer vacation, Takuya receives a peculiar package from his missing father, along with a letter containing information about the existence of several parallel worlds. At first Takuya doesn’t take it seriously, until one day she discovers a blonde girl with elf ears, this girl appears naked and kisses him, and then disappears, luckily the director and her stepmother were in the same place. The director tries to kill him to keep the device, but some impressive rays suddenly appear and fall on them, shortly after Takuya wakes up a few meters from there and retires, what he did not know is that he was now in another timeline.
Takuya realizes that the device has immense power after her stepmother had problems that one of her companions takes advantage of and blackmails her into doing improper things with her. After the act she decides that her life is worth nothing and she kills herself, this hurts Takuya too much who begins endless journeys through hundreds of timelines from which she could not rescue her beloved stepmother, until she reaches the point where she saves her, but at Final is sent to another timeline.
And so begins the great adventure of Takuya Arima who now has the mission of knowing where her father is, who is the device or because it was created and who that mysterious girl was, but believe me, it will not be a quiet trip.
As I help his stepmother, he decides to help many of the heroines of the story, in the span he helps his teacher and discovers that the director is really an evil being from space that wants to destroy everything although in the end he defeats him, among the other girls he helps especially the mysterious one Blue-haired girl named Kanna who tells her that her father is alive and that he pays his expenses in order to be watching his son. Everything was very calm until one day Kanna’s necklace is damaged and it reveals that said necklace has a glass that keeps it alive on earth, this is where things get much stranger, since it reveals that their mother is not from this earth. Takuya promises Kanna that he will return with the glass and embarks on a much more impressive adventure than he had already lived.
Takuya wakes up in a strange land where monsters exist, elves and more creatures defend each other sword as if it were a classic RPG, a short time later it discovers a beautiful golden-haired girl who for some reason is mute. Both spend time together until they are found by a white-haired elf who tells them that she is the guardian of that place, everyone begins to live together and said Elf trains Takuya, but they are attacked by monsters, although shortly after she ends up dying.
After the death of the elf Albina Takuya decides to leave and travel through the incredible and enormous desert that divides the two important regions of that land, but behind him was the blonde girl. In the end, the two decide to stay together and start a life together full of love, from that love Yu-no is born.
The two now being parents give Yu-no all the love, until one day some soldiers break into their home and end up murdering Yu-no’s mother, after seeing how the person they wanted most is murdered, they decide to cross the desert and go to the imperial city to Continue with the plan to get the crystal he promised to Kanna. But as always everything goes wrong and they find them, Yu-no is taken to the imperial city while Takuya is taken to a prison that ironically is a crystal mine that Kanna needs to live on earth.
In the end he escapes thanks to the friend Dragona of Yu-no and the resistance, after leaving that place they go to the imperial city where he meets his teacher smokes red-haired cigars and gives him some clues of what happens. Seeing that everything was ready for the attack, inside the castle he meets the director who is in a special cage so that he does not leave there and takes over everything, but one of Takuya’s friends frees him and ends up escaping.
Takuya discovers that her daughter is the new priestess for an event that happens every hundred years, and they have erased her memory, but thanks to love and that Dallo one of the special computers that made her behave like a murderer. He remembers his dad, and he is very happy, but asks him to stay, since he has to finish some things.
He goes after the queen who is to blame for what is happening, but learns that the queen is nothing more and nothing less than Ayumi, her stepmother who was transported from Takuya’s original timeline after the huge lightning that fell on them.
Ayumi tells him that it is the event of the priestess and it is due to the fact that billions of years ago there was a civilization on Earth, this civilization was much more advanced to such an extent that they predicted that all civilization would be destroyed by meteorites. It sounds identical to what happened to the dinosaurs, right? Thanks to the incredible advances of science they separated a large part of the earth and sent it to another dimension, but they all died due to the conditions of the other dimension, so they decided to modify the humans and animals to such an extent that they seemed taken from a science fiction or magic novel.
So much so was the change that Takuya noticed the truth of why Yu-no grew in a few months, because living beings adapted to the environment to be more productive, although not all experiments were a success and that is why monsters exist as if they were demons. It was also about the fact that they all depended on a certain crystal to survive called Psychite.
Everything at first sounded wonderful, but all the calculations of the scientists were wrong, since every 400 years the Earth was eliminated due to the collision with another celestial body, which was the part of the Earth that they sent to the other dimension, that is why the creator of said experiment Dying merged with a supercomputer, which had a huge failure, and that’s why it had to work, it had to synchronize the supercomputer with the mind of a human who they called \”the priestess\”, these girls were chosen by the computer. Although there was a price to pay, since either they could go blind, mute or flat to die after the act.
Takuya convinces Yu-no to do the ritual, but they are interrupted by the director now showing his true form, the chaos that ends up opening a portal where ghosts begin to come out and dimensional gaps are created in which one of them, Amanda The resistance leader is absorbed, although she also ends up seriously hurting Ayumi and finally dies.
Everything seemed to be lost while Yu-no to the ritual, but Takuya’s red-haired teacher arrives to help and begins a fight with the evil being (the director), from whom the sensei ends up winning the battle. Yu-no manages to complete the ritual and is sent to a certain place in the universe where Grantia the supercomputer explains that they must stop the collicion, but there is a certain risk of something that only God knows will happen. It is there that they decide to change the time in which the collision will take place, going back in time and she witnesses the destruction of the land while Grantia tells her that in another timeline another of the Granto and another Earth are in the process of collision.
Takuya is sent again to the timeline where Kanna needs the glass and Takuya will still start his journey to De la Granto, minutes later the Takuya who had lived in Dela Granto appears and gives the glass to Kanna, Kanna on the ground is looking at a photo And it turns out that her mother is Amanda, the leader of the Resistance who in Dela Granto had sexual relations with Takuya, since she did not want to die a virgin, and it is here where Takuya discovers that Kanna is her daughter, although she does not mention it, they make us understand that. Takuya says goodbye to Kanna and mentions that there is someone who has been waiting for him for thousands of years and needs to go see her.
In the end, Takuya is sent again to where everything started where he found the blonde girl with elf ears who is actually his daughter Yu-no, they meet again, but unlike the first time they saw Takuya decide to go with their daughter and both disappear. The two are sent to a place where a small tree is growing, we may never really understand that it is, but it may be the place where everything started.
Surely \”Kono yo no hate de koi or utau shoujo yu-no\” is one of those stories that makes us wonder about why we exist or if we really are alone in the universe or if there really exist parallel universes, a work of art in all its Splendor and theme.
His story as mentioned above Marco A before and after for many being of inspiration for the creation of the universe of Steins;Gate another cult story that touches on the same theme and is undoubtedly one of the best, not to mention that in the year 2017 Mages the developer of Steins;Gate He got the rights and released a remake version of Yu-no with better illustrations an incredible gameplay although the exclusivity with PS would not take long and would be released on Windows PC & Nintendo Switch in 2019.
Many of the fans who know that Yu-no served as inspiration for Steins;Gate showed incredible support and not only that if they didn’t theorize that Yu-no is canonical in the Steins;Gate universe. After Mages took the license and created the remake, which the developer has not confirmed or denied the fan theory, maybe in the future it will be like that or maybe not, but everything is possible.
Followed by the launch of the remake of Yu-No, an anime adaptation was released, with a total of 26 chapters that many fans did not like to say in its entirety, but of course it was not its first adaptation. Since two years after the launch of the original work, 4 hentai ovas were released in 1998, followed by several mangas, dramas and special editions could be obtained when buying these versions.
Something curious about the remake version is that when buying on PS4 or PSVita as a bonus they gave you the version of the PC98 of course with censorship, but that did not happen in the other versions, somewhat sad. Anyway, we hope that this review has been to your liking, you can get the visual novel Remake of Yu-No on PS4, PSVita, Nintendo Switch & Windows PC (Steam).
